Some say that the implementation of cubicles was first tested on farm animals. However, there's no denying that this mainstay of modern office design has drawn parallels to the way animals are being kept for further production (and associated exploitation).

Recently, however, there's been a push by companies to lower cubicle walls and eventually remove them altogether. Some say it's the smart way to go, accommodating employees' needs for conducive environment while others say it's an exercise of cost reduction as the nett space per employee reduces.

To me, it's like moving from confined pens to free range.
